Is This the Secret to Using eBooks to Grow Your Blogging Income?

Carol Tice

Are you hoping to earn money by writing and publishing your own ebooks?

I am. In fact, that was my whole premise when I started this blog — that I’d write one amazing ebook and then make bazillions.

I had a lot to learn.

Also, since I started this blog in 2008, the world of ebooks has changed a lot. Ebook buyers have come to feel price points on ebooks should be super-low. (Thanks, Amazon.)

Like, when I put my now-withdrawn Make a Living Writing ebook on sale at half price — $18 — I had some readers tell me that was still way too high. One told me she never pays more than $9.99.

This ebook pricing quandary is tough to figure out, huh?

Or that’s what I thought.

How one short ebook made $250,000

Then I hosted a fascinating presentation by Danny Iny of Firepole Marketing. If you don’t know Danny, he’s a prolific guest blogger and grew his website rapidly to where it provides him with a hefty six-figure income.

One of the primary ways he attracted a big audience quickly was with ebooks.

On the Webinar, he described how he conceptualized and marketed the ebooks so that they were Amazon bestsellers, wildly grew his audience, and exploded his income.

Here’s the twist on it: His ebooks are all free.

Not just for a few days, like I recently offered on my new Kindle ebook, 13 Ways to Get the Writing Done Faster.

His ebooks are always free.

When he first said that, I was, like, spluttering.

Why would you put in all that work on the ebook, and then make it free?

But when he explained, it made perfect sense to me.

Especially after he described how he used just one of his free ebooks to attract the audience that later paid him $250,000 for consulting, teaching, and coaching work.

That gets your attention, huh?

Free ebooks get shared more and downloaded more, so you can attract a bigger audience.

Makes sense when you think about it.

It made me seriously reconsider my marketing and pricing plans for the ebooks I hope to release in 2013.

Clearly, charging for ebooks can be a pennywise-pound foolish approach.

Take a peek at his system

Danny originally presented this insider info just for members of my Freelance Writers Den community. But it’s been a while, and Danny recently gave me permission to share this 1-hour Webinar with my blog readers, too.

Not to be dramatic, but this talk kind of changed my life, so I’m excited to be able to share it with you.

If you’d like to hear all the details of exactly how Danny wrote and promoted his ebook to get those impressive results, go register and watch it now. It’s free.
